It doesn’t get much better than this.

I must confess I was never a major fan but always thought they were very musical and that Judith Durham had a great voice. I think, were I to choose, that my favourite would be "Morningtown Ride":

I imagine at the time they must have seemed pretty square!!
They sounded amazing right up to their farewell concerts.

Not bad - it's very hard to replicate Steve's voice (in a certain way as you never could).

The late Derek Quinn doing what he does best and why he was an underrated guitar player from day one.

Oh yes, I remember when that one was released. Freddie in contemplative mood. R.I.P. both.

I follow this great page on Instagram, "Sceneinbetween", where the guy posts old pictures of unknown bands + more. For example; living rooms jams, USA, 1966 (see below). I find it fascinating looking at these photos, if only for the gear these young people had in their houses back then - some worth a lot today!

The 1960s: Pop/Rock Comes of Age - Page 6 20210113-181214

I then turned towards the comment section of the photo and someone mention the band photo on top of the tv - who is it? The page owner said maybe "The Trashmen". I then, from all that, checked who the hell the Trashmen were, lol! They're pretty cool!

John, if you can identify the band in the photo on top of the tv be my guest! For now check these out if you haven't before....  Laughing

Cool page. Lots of great pics!

He may well be right. I remember when "Surfin' Bird" was first played on French radio -- utterly outrageous! Lovely track though, and so is "Malaguena" (I have their album):

Highlight for me from the performance I posted on the listening thread. Just brilliant.
