This is extraordinary, despite being a reconstruction (2008). The image is of its composer, Arseny Avraamov, conducting the original 1922 Baku performance with flaming torches!

Oh, that’s good! I’ve seen the name before, but never thought to check them out before.
I love punk with harmonies!

I’ve been in love with the new Sparks album since it came out last month.
The influences and sounds on the album are so diverse that I’d never do it justice by writing about it, but I strongly recommend it.
This is one of my favourites from the LP. Not many acts sound this fresh after 50 years in the game!

Very nice! Sparks have recorded some truly wonderful stuff over the years. This video of "All You Ever Think About Is Sex" never fails to crack me up!

I found this one a few years ago.. it’s quite interesting in its seamless fusion of quite a few genres. I love the calm, almost 50’s exotica section in the middle.

That's amazing, musically and visually! Thanks, Bob. I love the name of their album--Pacifisticuffs!

I’d also recommend this one! I feel there’s an untapped market for Disco Metal!

Very much enjoying the new video for one of Sparks' new songs. It's difficult to pin down but it's like some kind of Lovecraftian bad trip with anxiety.

Sparks are a good band. I grew up with their song "This Town Ain't Big..." as my Mum was a fan back in the day. Funnily enough, and if shows ever come back, I will be seeing Sparks at the Primavera Sound Festival in Barcelona next year (2021).

When I found out they were releasing a new LP I said I’d do my best to catch the tour.. obviously that didn’t happen! Maybe next year! By what I’ve seen of their most recent performances, you’ll be in for a great show! Have you heard the new album yet?

Nah, is it any good? Tbf I've only heard their classic song "This Town" which I think is brilliant.

Man, you're missing out! They're a difficult band to recommend songs for, they've covered such a broad spectrum of sound from rock, synthpop, orchestral, weird experimental stuff, electronica.. but I'd definitely check out their last two albums ("Hippopotamus from 2017 and A Steady Drip, Drip, Drip-- particularly "All That", "I'm Toast", "Self-effacing" and "iPhone", from last month) There was a compilation released a couple of months back that does a pretty decent job of summing up their career.

Further on from the Sum of their parts thread, I absolutely love this record. Proto Glam that wouldn't have sounded out of place six years later with Bowie, Bolan et al.
