Deciphering BB and BB-Related Lyrics That Are Not Online
Thu Jan 18, 2018 6:34 pm
I may change the topic title. The important thing is that any lyrics posted here are being posted online for the first time. Encouragingly, I see the then unfindable lyrics of "Happy Endings" which I once deciphered are now online elsewhere----which is just as well, as mine sank with the ship we recently abandoned.
This track, identified for me by AGD (for which many thanks), is an unreleased Honeys song produced by Murry in 1968. In fact it's almost a solo Ginger Blake effort. The others are in there briefly from time to time but only briefly! There are still problem areas (the sound quality is none too good) and I've put them in [square brackets]. (The chorus has some dodgy moments too.)
I Think It's Gonna Be Alright
Sun's gonna shine
Grass is gonna grow
In spite of all the people
In this world who'll never know
That Mommy's little girl's
Little world fell apart
She tripped and she fell
All the way into someone's heart
But,
I,
Think it's gonna be alright
Oh yes I know she's gonna be alright
So when the chips are down
She's nobody's clown
And I guess a little uptight
Oh but I think she's gonna be okay
Oh yes I know she's gonna be okay
So when the votes are in
She's gonna win
I think it's gonna be okay
Okay
Monday may be grey
Tuesday may be fair
Imagine all the people
In this world who'll never care
That Mommy's little dream
Never drifted away
It hurts me to say it
But believe what I have to say
That,
I,
Think you're gonna be alright
Oh yes I know you're gonna be alright
So when the chips are down
She's nobody's clown
And I guess a little uptight
Oh but I know you're gonna be okay
Oh yes I know you're gonna be okay
So when the votes are in
You're gonna win
I know you're gonna be okay
Okay
Well I think you're gonna be alright
Oh yes I know you're gonna be alright
So when the votes are in
You're gonna win
I know you're gonna be okay
I think you're gonna be alright
Oh yes I know you're gonna be alright
So when the votes are in
You're gonna win
I know you're gonna be
I know you're gonna be
I know you're gonna be alright
Oh yes I know you're gonna be alright
So when the votes are in
You're gonna win
I know you're gonna be okay
I know you're gonna be alright
Oh yes I think...
This acetate has been on YouTube for over nine years! How I discovered it only today (5 Feb 2019) is one of life's big mysteries.

These are the lyrics of "Happy Endings" as transcribed by me. Luckily I had the presence of mind to repost them at Smiley:
"Bring them back, bring them back
Bring them back, wee ooo
Bring them back
"Bring back happy endings
Where the good guys always win
Give me Santa and the Easter Bunny
Make me smile again
"Bring back happy endings
Where the good guys always win
Like Peter Pan in Never Never Land, oh yeah
Make me smile again
"(We'll) send all the tears away
Bring them back to yesterday
We'll learn to laugh again
I can see the bad times end
"You love happy endings
Then let's go back once more
And dream a lot of Camelot
The way it was before
"Look through the children's eyes
And life becomes a lullaby
Send all the tears away
Bring them back to yesterday
"Bring them back, back
Bring them back, back
Bring them back, back
Bring them back, back
"Bring back happy endings
Where the good guys always win
And Santa and the Easter Bunny
Make me smile again
"Bring them back, wee ooo
Bring them back
Bring them back, wee ooo
Bring them back
Bring back happy endings
Bring back happy endings"
"Bring them back, bring them back

Another that doesn't seem to be anywhere else online is the (American) Spring song "Awake", written by the mysterious Floyd Tucker:
"Awake, awake my loved one
The dawn has brought the day
Awake, awake my darling
You mustn't sleep your life away
"Awake, the birds are singing
They sing their songs so clear
And hear the sounds of children
Their laughter fills the air
"Awake, awake my baby
This day was meant for you
Could be today you'll find
Your dreams have all come true
"And hear the sounds of children
Their laughter fills the air
"Arise, arise my darling
This day was meant for you
Could be today you'll find
Your dreams have all come true"
To help googlers, it might be wise to add that "Awake" was recorded by Spring
aka American Spring (Marilyn Wilson and Diane Rovell) in either 1971 or 1972.

Working on this again at the EH forum. When we're done, I'll alter the lyrics in this topic accordingly.
Edit: We seem to have nailed it. The revised version is now in place in the above first post.

Still being tweaked, most noticeably by the indefatigable AGD, who actually contacted Ginger Blake to learn that Murry not only produced it but wrote it as well, with Rick Henn doing the arrangement.
