One of the best bands from the '90's, for me that is, was Blur. I never liked Oasis, lol! I'm a massive Blur fan and have been for many years. I have seen them live myself on (now) two documented shows which themselves + the media said was historic. First being their headline spot at Glastonbury Festival 2009, on their first comeback with Graham that year/reunion and the 2nd being a 180 capacity venue in Wolverhampton, to which was a secret VIP show for charity back in 2015 being right at the front touching the band. Both amazing! I have all the albums, many rare and cool vinyls and box sets.

This is one of my favourite songs from Blur, sung by Graham Coxon and which was released on their 1999 album "13".

You don't hear this track an awful lot these days.. pity, I love it!
Almost a kind of Elvis Costello vibe to it..

Caught this instrumental by 808 State in part two of a YouTube history of the Mini Moog
(see the Gary Numan topic). "Nimbus" is on the flip of their 1992 single "Time Bomb":

This is "Cop Shoot Cop", the epic closing track to Spiritualized's must-hear 1997 album Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space. The flow is interrupted by two violent instrumental outbursts. A third outburst rages for minutes on end. Curiously it included a two-fingered piano rendition of (of all things) "God Save The Queen", played if the liner notes are to be believed by Dr. John. I can just imagine him asking Spiritualized mastermind Jason Pierce what he should do during the extended freakout and Pierce saying, "Play any fucking thing. Play the fucking national anthem for all I care." So he did. The Nondescript Nineties? Not a bit of it! Laugh

My friend across the road has been initiating me into the mysterious world of videogame soundtracks. The quality varies but most of the ones she's linked for me have sounded from fair to excellent. Most soundtracks are looped sections of a few minutes each. This one's unusual in that it's a single 24-minute piece. From 1994, this is "Dancing Mad" from the Final Fantasy VI Super Nintendo videogame (said he, sounding like an expert already, hahaha):

This is not from the '90s, it's actually from 2007/8, but if you like video game soundtracks this is brilliant! I'm a big fan of this game and I'm a main substantial member on the forum for it.

The soundtrack for this section of the game is brilliant! Cool

Manic Street Preachers were on Jools last night singing "International Blue" and this one from 1996, "A Design For Life". Excellent stuff.

Saw The Breeders on Jools last night. I'm not familiar with their music at all, so from 1993, this is their big hit, "Cannonball" (they revisited it last night after 25 years):

My brother has two tickets to see The Breeders in July with his mate in Birmingham. The lead singer was the original bass player from The Pixies, they're a good band.

In 1993 Björk gave us one of the finest solo debut albums ever:

I've only heard good reviews about that album throughout the years. I must give it a listen soon!

From 1990, these are The Pet Shop Boys and "My October Symphony". With thanks for the heads up to Ian Cockburn at PSF, who investigated literature relating to Shostakovich on the strength of this album track:

In the midst of reorganizing the ground line set-up after a change of provider, I found myself wondering how many people have used the hook from this De La Soul ditty for their answerphone message...

I was alerted to this 1997 Stereolab album at PSF by a friendly former member. "Miss Modular" is her favourite track from it. Dots and Loops falls under blissed-out, like much of Air and The High Llamas. Lovely stuff. (There's a BB connection or two among the additional musicians playing on the album.)

Did you know?

That Rage Against the Machine caused a minor earthquake at the Dutch Pinkpop festival in 1994? 1.0 on the Richter magnitude scale, presumably with this song:

It seems Primus broke that record four years later with an earth-shaking 1.3!

I'm no fan of Oasis (with the possible exception of "Wonderwall") and I've never really taken the trouble to investigate Blur, which seems a much more interesting band. My main Britpop memory is of this song, "Alright" by Supergrass, which I will forever associate with our Scottish trip in '95 (up the west side, across to John O'Groats and down the east side):

I've no idea how I found this song (probably just surfing from one track to the next) but it's a beauty. Ride's "Leave Them All Behind" combines the best of shoegaze with some gorgeous vocal harmonies:

Sunrise on the Sufferbus (1992) is not only a fantastic album title but the cover art is very cool and the music... well, I've been playing it pretty well non-stop since rediscovering it. Apart from being a fantastic listen, it's been helping me through a period of soul-searching, which I hope is now over.

The first time I came across the word tilt-a-whirl was in the first fanfic in the first link in my signature--I highly recommend this and the other five works by D_J_Marlowe. "Tilt A Whirl" is track #10 from this superb second album by Masters of Reality, featuring none other than Ginger Baker on drums:

At long long last, I've found the studio version of "Dinosaur", from King Crimson's 1995 album Thrak. With many many thanks to Jacob Ejlak on SoundCloud! The entire album is worth hearing but "Dinosaur" begins at 7:17. The passage that intrigues me begins at 10:55 and seems to be painting a picture of a time immensely long ago:
