Poor old VDP has had to wait months for his first post, hahaha. Let's set things right and start with a polarizing album. Like others, I have trouble with Song Cycle--usually it just gives me a headache (certainly in combination with white wine, lol). Still, it does have a reputation so let's try again...

Van Dyke Parks circa 1967. Besides providing the majority of Smile's lyrics and thematic direction, he also participated in sessions as an instrumentalist.
