Fan made remixes!

on Wed Feb 14, 2018 11:11 pm
I was debating whether to have this as a part of the songwriters thread, but decided it warranted it's own thread.

Thanks to the Rock Band games, there are a lot of multi tracks for a lot of songs floating about online.. I've started a channel uploading my mixes to Youtube (until it gets pulled for the blatant copyright violation..)

This is the first one I've uploaded.
Nothing too radical, I just cleaned everything up, added some high end and reverb and messed about with some instrument placements..

As a slight aside, I never noticed there was a harmonium on this track until listening to the isolated tracks.. I always thought the sustained sound was strings...

Nor did I----what a turnup for the etc. (Shades of "We Can Work It Out" then.) I love harmoniums!

Great work, Bob.

This one was a bit more fun for me to do because the original mix left so much to be desired (in my opinion!!)

Really I just added some punch to the drums and brass and positioned the instruments as they would be in a song today. The interesting thing about this is that it was recorded on 8-track... not too many studios were doing that at the time.

My latest remix. Another John Lennon track.. I always come back to this track due to how fitting it always seems.

I cleaned it up a bit, brought up the strings and made the piano stereo throughout and not mono until the vocals start..

The multitracks for this song have an autoharp which is pretty much inaudible in the final mix, I pushed that up. I also tried to push up a saxophone part that was wiped from the multitrack but still audible over someone's headphones, couldn't do much with it, but I got it back to a degree..
I also messed about with some levels and EQ.
