Hi Ashley. Good to hear from you. And glad to hear you're having a great visit. You enjoy it while it lasts, okay? Anyway, I'm sure you'll be visiting Canada again before you know it. The Travel Thread - Page 3 Smile

I love travelling by train. It's relaxing and it gives you a different view of the world. So I'm sure you did the right thing.

Fascinating tour there, Rich. Thanks for sharing, as always. You do get to some great places! And there's a pub just up the road--to say nothing of Loch Fyne Seafood and Grill. The Travel Thread - Page 3 Tongue

Seems the barn is the only building that's survived pretty well intact. I see it's been fitted out as a museum. This video, made by the Kenilworth History and Archaeology Society and showing in the Abbey Barn Museum, includes a 3D reconstruction of St. Mary's Abbey:

Yes many graves there. Mainly from the 19th century, some possibly older!

The one I filmed in the video was interesting.

Thanks John! I know the lady who runs the "Kenilworth History and Archaeology Society", as she does tours at Kenilworth Castle. She's a very nice lady and knows her history of Kenilworth! So, I might be persuaded to join them one day. My friend Bill is a member I believe.

It looks great there--I see it has a subtropical climate, which explains the palm trees. Did you go on the SkyWheel?

Nope didn't do the skywheel this time. But last year we did! However when I went to Niagara Falls with my girls we did the skywheel there.

I would love to go travelling again! I get so bored at home lol

What a place--I was in that part of the world in the early '80s but I can't for the life of me remember whether we visited this castle. I do remember some extraordinarily steep hills! The Travel Thread - Page 3 Ohmy

Is there a museum in the castle? I noticed bits of sculpture lit up with blue light, including someone's ear. The Travel Thread - Page 3 Tongue

Your new camera makes a great difference! Brilliant quality there, Rich. And another top-quality video.

Niagara Falls--wow. I believe my wife was there in 1977 on a university trip along the Eastern Seaboard.

And I'm sure you will, A. Until then, there's always CCW's travel videos to transport you away. The Travel Thread - Page 3 Wink

I`ve always wondered how anyone could find their way around these places. So many nooks and crannies and ways to get lost.

I keeping forgetting that there's not much at all of such places in the US. I was brought up on trips to castles and old stately homes in the UK and treat it as absolutely normal. I miss it here in NL where there are oldish churches and cathedrals but not much in the way of other stuff from earlier times.

Wow. Those timber-frame buildings are sensational. And what an astonishing place inside too. Apparently there's an Egyptian urn in one of the gardens that's 2000 years old. Not sure if it was in the video.

Good stuff as always, Rich. And nothing like a spot of Josquin to lift the spirits.

You do get to some brilliant places! Another thoughtful and thorough video. I agree with that commenter about the shot over the ramparts!

It seems Bolsover Castle has a history of supernatural activity:

Good stuff, Rich. Thanks for sharing, as always. The Travel Thread - Page 3 Smile

What's the exact name of that wonderful John Stanley piece you used?

Thanks as always, John!

The first piece is J. Stanley "Op. 6 No. 5 in two forms; being trumpet and organ, 00:00-4:09". The second J. Stanley piece from 4:09 till end is "Concerto No. 5 in A Major for Harpsichord and Strings".
