Lovely place in a lovely setting (pity's about your mate's shorts, hahaha).

I love what the English Heritage website has to say about it: "By 1600 it had passed to Sir Thomas Cecil, son of Queen Elizabeth’s chief minister, who converted it into an almshouse for 12 poor ‘bedesmen’ over 30 years old and two women (over 45), all free of lunacy, leprosy or the French pox." I wonder if they all wore short trousers...

The house has some beautiful beams, particularly in the attic. Once again, I appreciate your views out of the surroundings--it puts it all in perspective. And a great choice of music, as always. Wink

I was laughing at the guy in the shorts as well. Was he someone that was with you or did it just seem like wherever you went there he was?  lol!

It`s amazing that they had fire extinguishers, alarms, and smoke alarms back in the middle ages just like we we have them now.  Razz

That's my friend and work colleague, Bill, who sometimes comes on my MR trips with me. I have a MR team you know! Laughing Laughing  If he was some stranger it'd be a bit strange him constantly in my shots, lol! Laughing

English Heritage policy for health and safety why they have to be there unfortunately. They are all carefully put in which doesn't alter the listed buildings which is good.

Late to this as you didn't quote the message! lol! ... Thanks as always. Henry VIII visited there with 4000 men back in the day... Can you believe it, lol! The small village would of been ransacked of food/supplies.

It's really hot here in the UK atm... Hence him wearing shorts lol.... Or am i missing a joke here. Laughing

Yes, I should have quoted it. I'll try to be more attentive in future. Wink

As for Bill's shorts... I'm thinking back on my enforced visits to hundreds of Italian churches a couple of decades ago. Anyone wearing shorts or inappropriate tops would have been shown the door. They're super-strict on these things (or they were). Anyway, I guess I'm just not a shorts person (luckily for those in my vicinity), even though it's effin' hot here too. Embarassed

Never knew that information, very interesting indeed. I forgot to mention the shorts joke to him at work today! Laughing

Not an MR related trip! However, I was in Somerset the last 4 days stopping at a place called Brean on the coast. Here are my pictures of when I went up the Brean Down with everyone + our two young brother and sister dogs. I have been going to Brean since I was really young----a lovely place! Very Happy

Pictures on my Instagram ---> https://www.instagram.com/p/B2hA6eih20M/

Them pictures even got reposted by the official "Visit Brean" Instagram page as well!

My latest MR trip was today. My trip for this month was Brough Castle in Cumbria (I have some pics on my Instagram -- https://www.instagram.com/richhickling ). I went there Thursday just gone and my footage didn't come out! My luck! Ah well, wanted to film this historic church in Kenilworth for some time---enjoy! Smile

What you lose on the roundabouts etc. St Nicholas' is a fascinating church. I love those animal heads (?) around the main entrance. Some great stone decorations indoors too, to say nothing of the timber ceiling. Would that be the original organ mounted on the wall? (You can see it in the background at 4:55.)

I see at least one window suffered at the hands of the Luftwaffe. And the end of the video, with the view of the church dissolving among the trees, is a masterstroke!  As is the choice of music.

I believe it is and thanks for the kind words as always. I like the history behind St Nicholas' church. Mainly how the church played a part in a royal visit from Queen Elizabeth I, once in 1568 and then twice in 1575 (her most famous royal visit to Kenilworth where she stayed at the castle).

Those animal heads are similar to the carvings around the door at Kilpeck Church. I filmed that church back in March (link ).

Indeed, but they are more varied at Kilpeck. They seem to be heads of just one animal (a dog?) at the Kenilworth church. Whatever, it's a stunning effect.

Thank you, Rich!

Ha yes. I read somewhere that they do sell-out ghost tours--in the evening of course. I like the bit about those sculptures: "there are largely representations of pubescent girls exposing one breast while engaged in virtuous Victorian pastimes". Just up my street, I believe.geek

Rich, I noticed an orange bucket in your video (at about 10:20). First I thought it might have been your and Bill's bucket, so you didn't have to go dashing off to the loo during filming. But it seems the place is leaking everywhere!

Now I think of it, I believe I saw a caption on a table called "A musical family". Maybe this explains it (https://www.english-heritage.org.uk/visit/places/brodsworth-hall-and-gardens/music-at-brodsworth/).

What a setting--not only the fairytale grounds but the surrounding countryside as well. Once again, I really like the exterior shots (and shots through windows). It puts the house and its setting wonderfully in perspective. And some cool music by Signor Buonamente. Wink Another great vid there, Rich. Only... are you able to change Brodswall to Brodsworth in the title (twice)? That would make it perfect!
