After years of reader's block (with two or three notable exceptions) I seem to be back in reading mode. I'd heard so many good things about The Great Gatsby from a remarkable poster at PSF that I promised myself I'd start on it once I'd done one of the horrendously difficult Sudoku puzzles I'd been working on. Mission accomplished, I'm now about a third of the way through. It's true what I'd been told----every line is like a prose poem. And FSF has a sense of humour.
Saw the film a few years back and loved it. Maybe that's the way to do it----film first and book
later. I should imagine the other way round makes things difficult. (Matter of opinion maybe.)
Thank you to that person. And now it's time for my morning shot of the party scene:

Hector Berlioz's Mémoires, in the superb translation by David Cairns (the English title is A Life & Love of Music). Of course, you can't make a great translation out of a bad source text--it helps that Berlioz excelled as a writer as well as a composer.
How are you doing with your L. M. Montgomery books, Ashley?

I have this lined up for later. (Whether or not I'll get round to it is another matter.) Berlioz, the love of whose life was called Estelle, read this book in his youth:
