Are you listening to a full album right now via YouTube, iTunes,  the worldwide web, CD's or on your vinyl player? If so, post what album that is here and discuss if needs be! clown

I got directed to "this"video by the official Fender Website . I've never heard of Mac Demarco at all. However, I liked how he played in the strat in the Fender promotion video and did some digging. I can across this album on first search, gave it a rip and I'm liking what I'm hearing!

I love the reverb style guitars, groovy beat and the adding of the drenched vocal.

Fantastic yet sadly overlooked album.
The fourth track, "No Other Name" should have been a classic, it's beautiful.
"I Dig Rock 'n' Roll Music" is a great sendup of the music at the time featuring a more than passable Mamas and Papas impersonation..

Well worth a listen!

I got this album signed by the band back in 2005 at a vip show at Kerrang! studios in Birmingham.

A great album----one I have not heard in many years.

This cover is my avatar at Hoffman. I was looking for something no one else would use and Room's Pre-Flight seemed to fit the bill. It was one of my contributions to SM's "Obscure Albums" topic over at PSF.

A great album front start to finish. The debut album from "The Futureheads" released back in 2004. I got this album signed by the band, when I met them at a secret acoustic show at Kerrang studios (now gone) in Birmingham.

A brilliant album from start to finish. I've seen Hot Chip many times live over the years. This is their first debut album, released back in 2004, called "Coming on Strong"....

Time for some classic Muzak, folks. Mr Tubey shoved this in my face earlier this evening so I gave it a try. It's beautiful, if a little spooky. As commenter Shawn Spear says, "Even the reverb has reverb"!  The Entire Album Thread Biggrin

I can't resist posting this other incredible comment from Francis Perlmutter:

"This music is the perfect accompaniment to a solo cough syrup party - oh, for the good old days, when the over-the-counter stuff had codeine and you didn't have to worry about getting put on some federal registry list if you bought two bottles at a time.  I could go all limp, boneless and happy in a shopping cart, listening to this music - it's like someone is slowly revolving me and the ceiling tiles have never been so fascinating.  I'm young again, listening to this music - my waist is small, my buns are firm and high, my teeth are pink, and I have hair."  The Entire Album Thread Laugh

DGQ's Lene Lovich topic reminded me of this first-rate 1978 album by the Nina Hagen Band. Indeed, I believe Nina and Lene collaborated at some point. The whole album is insanely good. This is the awesome "Auf'm Bahnhof Zoo" (At the Bahnhof Zoo). I include the lyrics in translation (not by me):

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nina_Hagen_Band_(album)

At the Bahnhof Zoo in the ladies' room
I've got to be hungry

Sweet kid
Your brown hair is wonderful
Your strap on your stockings is amazing

Sweet kid, tell me quickly
Who the hell are you?
Your spiky leather shoes!

Your frazzled rubber stockings!
Your mini-skirt made out of a string bag!
Your panties with the Queen of London on them!
Silver Jubilee! Hee hee...

At the Bahnhof Zoo in the ladies' room
I've got to be hungry

Sweet kid
Your resistance makes sense
Your high heel is as hot as you are

Your neon pink nail varnish stings my head like a hornet
Your felt hair was peppered with rice crispies
Your song
Your words
Oh
Rock & Roll operetta!

At the Bahnhof Zoo in the ladies' room
There it happened
It was so beautiful

Your strap ripped
I picked it up
I kissed you
You kissed me
We kissed one another

PS: Whether blond or black or brown
I love all women

Prompted by DGQ's Lene Lovich topic and needing some background music for cleaning shelves (and taping together ancient books I dropped), I went for LL's debut album Stateless. She's someone I signally ignored at the time--to my disadvantage, my ears tell me, as there's lots to enjoy here. My favourite track? It's a toss-up between "One In A 1000000" and the Tommy James cover. Lovely stuff! Thank you, DGQ. Smile

From Lene Lovich's Stateless to another '80s album, Age of Consent (1984) by Bronski Beat. I've always loved Jimmy Somerville's voice.

Talking of this. I got a ticket to see them in Birmingham, being the day after in my birthday in December, and at the same venue i'm seeing Elvana (elvis-nirvana tribute) the night before on my birthday/a birthday present with friends and family. The Futureheads are touring their first album for the 15th anniversary of that first album. And remember what I said as well. The last time I saw them it was that album tour in '04 on my birthday!

20 Jazz Funk Greats has been one of my albums of choice in recent months. Throbbing Gristle is a band I avoided for years because of the name! It was a song by Psychic TV about Brian Jones ("Godstar") that led me to investigate them. Psychic TV was formed by TG members Genesis P-Orridge and Peter Christopherson when that band broke up.

The cheesy album cover is made to look like an LP you might have bought at Woolworth's back in the day. (I like the "Stereo" in the top right-hand corner.) It shows the band standing on the cliffs at Beachy Head (the title of one of the tracks). Of course, the album title is utterly misleading! There are only 11 tracks and not a whiff of jazz and/or funk to be heard, let alone "greats". The music has been described as (proto-)industrial but I'd say it's in a field of one.

Anything related to either band is worth investigating, thanks to the extraordinary personalities of Genesis P-Orridge (second from our left) and his then-partner Cosey Fanni Tutti (in the dress):

Listening to this extraordinary album again. It's one I find myself returning to from time to time. This is the bouncy "Hot On The Heels Of Love":

I stayed up late to listen to this 1987 album (the uploader doesn't know which one!) by the Russian band Альянс (Alyans, which translates as alliance). Cool synth pop from the Soviet era. Curiously, one track seems to feature a lady singer who joined them three years later. Time for a little detective work, methinks. study  *

* I did just that and got into some iffy internet shit. Here endeth the detective work! What a Face
